The history of the Bullfinch begins with three different people, whos stories wound together to create the theme of one brewpub. Our Master Brewer and the Graphic Designer, Dave and Tim Collins, are two brothers who grew up with role-playing games and comic books that borrow heavily from the worlds of mythology. The ideas of epic heroes, dangerous monsters, and magic were the building blocks of their childhood. With a strong interest in mythology, Dave and Tim became engrossed in the works on Thomas Bullfinch. An American scholar in the early 19th century, Bullfinch translated many volumes of Greek mythology, biblical Hebrew and Arthurian legend to English. Many students who find themselves interested in the field of mythology have a volume of his on hand, including Dave and Tim As Dave got older, he started getting bartending jobs and became an expert bartender and mixologist with an interest in the history of alcohol. This led to his infatuation with the beer brewing process and the inherent chemistry that accompanies it. Starting with some home brewing equipment he quickly outgrew his meager beginnings and sought a college program that taught the ancient arts of brewing beer.
