Questions From Other Singles Like You

Wondering about Speed Dating events or how Pre-Dating does them? Maybe just a relationship question in general? Some other people did as well and here are their questions to us.

If you have a question, simply email us at Questions@Pre-Dating.com and if selected for our next Newsletter you'll get a complimentary ticket to one of our events.

QUESTION #1:

Hi Pre-Dating,

Whenever I meet someone, it always seems that either they are interested in me, but they are not what I am looking for, or, I am interested in them, but they are not interested in me, what am I missing?

Answer from Pre-Dating

Dear "Not Interested",

To answer this question, you will want to first think of the reason you are NOT interested in the people who have shown interest in you. Is it physical? It is their personality? Maybe it's their income level, or a combination of all three.

Once you have answered this question, you will want to evaluate yourself a bit. Why do you think the people you are interested in are not interested in you? Are you less outgoing due to fear of rejection? Is it possible you are acting differently when you find something you are interested in? These things can be subtle, so it takes a bit of "stepping out of yourself" to objectively ascertain if it's you or simply that it's just the luck of the draw and therefore just a matter of time until both of you share the same interest.

It is important to realize these dating "mistakes", as they often lead to rejection. Be social, be yourself and most importantly, don't get caught up in the thought that the person you are interested in will never pick you. Sure, you will still get rejected here and there, but keep positive and the more experience you have, the more confidence you will gain!

QUESTION #2:

Hi Pre-Dating,

I have attended your events in the past, and I have to say, they are GREAT fun, however, is 6 minutes really enough time? Sometimes I feel rushed.

Answer from Pre-Dating

Dear "Rushed",

Have you ever been on an amazing date and you both cannot seem to get enough of each other and you end up ticking off the waiters at the restaurant because it is after hours and you both are not done talking yet (Yea, we've all done it!)? Or, maybe a horrible date, and it feels like the time goes by at a snails pace?

This is why we limit the time to 6 minutes! Sometimes the time flies, but other times you feel like you are pulling teeth to just get a response from the other party.

Studies show, it takes 30 seconds for there to be a sexual attraction, for the remaining 5 minutes and 30 seconds, you may find that the person is not only attractive but has a WONDERFUL personality to boot! Or not, but that's why we like to limit the time to 6- minutes! NEXT!

One of the reasons my newest book, Attracting Lasting Love: Breaking Free of the 7 Barriers that Keep You Single, has become a #1 best-seller on Amazon is because in the book I present a new and radical way of dating and relating, something I call, The Dating Manifesto.

The Dating Manifesto is a call to change the culture of dating. It's a challenge to stop playing games and date consciously. So in The Dating Manifesto, I describe 7 commitments of conscious dating. And as I said, they're radical. But when you align your life with the 7 commitments, magic happens. Drama ends and love blooms. The Dating Manifesto is a blueprint for conscious dating and they will help you attract a healthy, lasting relationship.

I'm going to share one of the 7 commitments in each of the next seven newsletters. (If you miss any of them, email me at roy@coachingwithroy.com and I'll send them to you.)

Now, in order to make this fun, I'm not only going to present each of the 7 conscious commitments, but I'm also going share their evil twins, or their opposites. Unfortunately, these counter-commitments describe "the game," how most people normally date. Choosing the conscious commitment over its "evil twin" is the key to enjoying your dating experience and attracting lasting love.

So far, we've discussed Responsibility, Curiosity, Authenticity, Allies and Enough. The 6th commitment in The Dating Manifesto is Source. Here's how I describe it.

CONSCIOUS COMMITMENT #6: Source

I commit to being the source of my emotional needs, including my desire for love, security, worthiness, happiness, specialness and connectedness. I commit to releasing my future partner from the responsibility of having to heal a wound, end a story, fill a hole or meet a need.

Now, here's its "evil twin." This is how most people date …

COUNTER-COMMITMENT #6: Out-Source

I commit to out-sourcing my emotional needs, making my future partner responsible for alleviating my loneliness and making me feel safe, wanted, seen, loved, happy, or whole. And when they don't, I commit to manipulating, blaming, controlling or punishing them for not "being there for me."

Taking full responsibility for your emotional needs, and not projecting them on your future partner, is the pillar of what I stand for in the world. Nearly 95% of all single people have this "you complete me" mindset to one degree or another. And I should know, because I had this "disease" for decades and it ruined every single relationship I had.

Yet, alarmingly, most people think the purpose of a relationship is to actually find someone who will meet your emotional needs! That's tragic because this out-sourcing is THE root cause of all our relationship drama, pain and heartache. Life partners make lousy life sources.

Even though I had just a mild case of the "you complete me" mindset, it still caused a divorce, a break up with a fiancée and numerous dating disasters. Friends, this out-sourcing is ruining your love life and most people don't know they're doing it, and yet almost everyone is! But I've learned how to be the source my own needs and now I have a relationship most people would die for. I'd love to share how it happened right here, but there's no room. Besides, I've already told the whole story in my book.

If your love life is not satisfying, then take advantage of The Attracting Lasting Love Complimentary Coaching Session™. It's a 30-minute free conversation where I help you discover the primary issue that's keeping you single and what to do about it. Email me at roy@coachingwithroy.com or call me at 407-687-3387 to set up an appointment.

Featured Testimonial

Hi there, Ann...

Wanted to update you...I met a wonderful man at one of your events in April 2012 and we have formed a lovely relationship! I must say, I am very happy. And although I enjoyed myself at your event, I am doubtful that I will be attending anytime soon. :)

Best of luck on making additional connections.

Cheers!

Jennifer (Cincinnati, Jan 2014)

QUOTE OF THE MONTH

"Relationships in general make people a bit nervous. It's about trust. Do I trust you enough to go there?"

-Neil LaBute (Filmmaker)

CRAZY DATING FACT OF THE MONTH

Humans like mystery and "the chase," so don't be too "available" to a date. Dating experts typically suggest not sleeping too early with a date because the longer the chase, the more likely love will blossom.
